GenieClip® LB3
- Low-profile version of the GenieClip®, designed to minimize overall system depth in ceilings and walls.
- Side-mounted bracket installs directly to the joist, recessed into the cavity, allowing the hat channel to run parallel to the framing
- Reduced installation profile lowers ceiling drop from 1-5/8″ to just 1/4″, compared to standard GenieClip® RST assemblies
- Delivers the same proven acoustic performance and vibration isolation as the GenieClip® RST
- Ships daily from our Nevada and Georgia warehouses

Decoupling is the most effective method for achieving sound isolation in ceilings. When properly installed, a high-quality resilient ceiling isolation clip dramatically reduces airborne noise, structure-borne vibration, and impact footfall sound transmission. Among the many options available, the GenieClip® system stands out for its proven performance and extensive testing. Certified results for STC, OITC, IIC, and UL fire ratings confirm why the GenieClip® RST is considered the best standard ceiling isolation clip for both residential and commercial soundproofing projects.
Purpose Of GenieClip® LB3
Traditional sound isolation clips can reduce ceiling height, which poses a challenge in rooms with already low clearances. Spaces like basements, older homes, and multifamily housing often have 8-foot or lower ceilings, making height loss a common concern during soundproofing projects. As a result, many installers settle for lower-profile but less effective solutions, such as damping compounds, resilient channel, or mass loaded vinyl (MLV)—that don’t achieve the same level of acoustic performance.
The Pliteq GenieClip® LB3 eliminates this compromise. Engineered for low-profile sound isolation, it delivers the same proven acoustic performance as the standard GenieClip® RST, but with minimal ceiling height loss. Instead of the typical 1-5/8″ drop, the GenieClip LB3 allows the ceiling to be fully decoupled within just 1/2″ of the joists, perfect for tight spaces where every inch matters.
This compact installation method can also be used in wall assemblies, with hat channel running parallel to the studs from floor to ceiling, offering a versatile solution for both ceilings and walls that require high-performance sound isolation in low-clearance environments.
Maximize the performance of the GenieClip® system by adding resilience to the floor above. We recommend the use of GenieMat® RST02 for a low-cost high-performance underlayment. This will increase the IIC rating by at least 6 IIC points and the STC rating by at least 2-3 points.
Installation
For proper installation of the Pliteq GenieClip™ LB3, use the correct fasteners for your framing type:
- Wood framing: Use a #8 × 1½″ coarse-thread screw.
- Metal framing: Use a #8 × 1″ self-tapping screw.
Clips should be spaced no more than 48 inches apart along the furring channel, with each row of clips positioned 24″ or 16″ on center, depending on the weight and design of the ceiling assembly.
For optimal performance and even load distribution, we recommend a staggered layout pattern. This layout helps balance structural weight and ensures consistent sound isolation performance across the entire ceiling surface.
Sound Tests
*All test results shown in this table were achieved through third party testing from accredited laboratories. The full test is available upon request. The clip is the same for the GenieClip® RST and GenieClip® LB3.

Estimating
The number of resilient sound isolation clips required for your project depends on the total weight of the wall or ceiling assembly. While a properly designed clip system can support multiple layers of drywall, it’s important not to exceed the acoustic load capacity of each clip to maintain optimal performance. For precise estimating, use our Resilient Sound Clip Calculator. This tool calculates the recommended quantity and spacing of clips based on the dimensions of each wall or ceiling partition, helping ensure both structural integrity and acoustic efficiency in your installation.
