GenieClip® LB3
- Low profile GenieClip® version to reduce profile depth for ceilings and walls
- Bracket installs to the side of the joist, recessed into the cavity, with the hat channel running parallel to the framing.
- Low profile install reduces drop from 1-5/8" down to 1/4", compared to standard GenieClip RST installation.
- Same performance as GenieClip® RST.
- Ships daily from Nevada and Georgia.

Decoupling is the most efficient means to isolate sound in walls and ceilings. With a quality isolation clip, a high level of isolation for airborne, structure-borne, and impact footfall noise is possible. The extensive and successful testing of the GenieClip™ in walls and ceilings for STC, OITC, IIC, and UL fire ratings leads us to recommend the GenieClip™ as the best standard sound insulation clip for any project.
The loss in ceiling height from a standard sound isolation clip can be an issue in rooms that already have low ceilings. Basements, older homes, and multifamily housing commonly have ceilings 8 foot or lower. This will discourage some customers from decoupling the ceiling to isolate sound and instead choose lower profile solutions that are less efficient, i.e. damping compounds, resilient channel, mass loaded vinyl. This is no longer an issue with the Pliteq GenieClip™ LB3. The performance of the Pliteq GenieClip™ LB3 is at the same level of the standard GenieClip™ RST, but instead of a 1-5/8" loss in height, the ceiling can be fully decoupled within 1/2" of the joists.
The same low profile installation can be used in walls with hat channel running parallel to the studs from floor to ceiling.
Maximize the performance of the GenieClip™ system by adding resilience to the floor above. We recommend the use of GenieMat™ RST02 for a low cost high performance underlayment. This will increase the IIC rating by at least 6 IIC points and the STC rating by at least 2-3 points.
Installation
Use a #8 1-1/2" coarse thread screw for wood framing or #8 1" self tapping screw for metal framing. The standard spacing from clip to clip is a maximum of 48" with each row of clips spaced either 24" or 16" from each other. We recommend following the staggered layout pattern to distribute weight evenly across the ceiling.
Sound Tests
*All test results shown in this table were achieved through third party testing from accredited laboratories. The full test is available upon request. The clip is the same for the GenieClip® RST and GenieClip® LB3.

Estimating
The number of resilient clips required will depend on the weight of the assembly. A clip system can hold several layers of drywall, but the acoustic load of each clip should not be exceeded. Estimating for the GenieClip™ LB3 is is different than other resilient clips. The clip will recess into the joist or stud cavity requiring the furring hat channel to run parallel with the framing. Use the numbers in the table below to estimate the correct number of GenieClip™ LB3 clips for the project.
Quick Math For Estimating GenieClip™ LB3 and Hat Channel (Walls or Ceilings) | |
---|---|
16" on center framing | Divide total square footage by 3.5 |
24" on center framing | Divide total square footage by 4.5 |
Hat Channel, rows 24" apart | Multiply total square footage by .6 for total linear footage |
Hat Channel, rows 16" apart | Multiply total square footage by .7 for total linear footage |
