Product Use
The GenieMat PMI Perimeter Isolation Strip is a polyethylene (PE) foam roll designed to create a flexible separation between wall perimeters and resilient underlayment systems. This isolation layer prevents sound flanking and vibration transfer, ensuring maximum acoustic performance in floor and wall assemblies.
During installation, the GenieMat PMI strip is applied along the base of perimeter walls before placing the resilient underlayment. Its durable PE foam construction is resistant to water, bacteria, and fungi, making it ideal for long-lasting use in residential, commercial, and multi-unit projects.
The GenieMat PMI ensures complete perimeter isolation, improving STC and IIC ratings and maintaining consistent sound control throughout the structure.
Installation
To install the GenieMat PMI, attach it along the perimeter walls of the entire subfloor before placing the resilient underlayment. Secure the strip temporarily using masking tape, duct tape, carpet tape, or small spots of adhesive to hold it in position during installation.
Once the resilient underlayment and finished flooring are installed, trim the GenieMat PMI flush with the top surface of the finished floor. This ensures a clean, professional look while maintaining a continuous acoustic break between the wall and floor, preventing sound flanking and vibration transfer.
