PRODUCT USE

GenieMat® FAS is recommended for projects with GenieMat® rubber underlayment to adhere the GenieMat® RST to the sub-floor as well as the finished floor to the GenieMat® RST or GenieMat® FF. There are two styles of GenieMat® FAS, the GenieMat® FAS2 and GenieMat® FASHM. Most applications will require the GenieMat® FAS2 with the GenieMat® FASHM typically only used over concrete floors with high humidity.

GenieMat® FAS2

GenieMat® FAS2 is a cross-linking, pressure-sensitive, amide-ester-acrylate-resin blend adhesive. It is solvent free, non-flammable, has low odor, demonstrates excellent water and alkali resistance, features high aggressive peel and shear strength, and is very easy to trowel. This specially formulated adhesive has plasticizer migration resistance that allows installation of a broad variety of vinyl floor products. Use GenieMat® FAS2 for bonding GenieMat® RST to various sub-floors and for bonding finish floors to the GenieMat® RST or GenieMat® FF. Coverage per four gallon pail will vary depending on application.

GenieMat® FASHM

GenieMat® FASHM is a one component, 100% solids, cross-linking, modified silane polymer based adhesive. It is solvent-free, water-free, and isocyanate-free. This non-flammable material has low odor, negligible VOC content, contains no hazardous chemicals (as per OSHA Regulation), and meets all federal, state, and local government indoor air quality regulations. This specially formulated adhesive is a Class 1 vapor barrier, features extremely low-permeability ratings, withstands maximum moisture levels of 10 lbs and 90% relative humidity, and is unaffected by the concrete slab alkalinity. GenieMat® FASHM has good early strength buildup for immediate grab and gradually builds into a tenacious but resilient bond as the chemicals in the adhesive cross-link. The plasticizer migration resistance allows installation of a broad variety of vinyl floor products. Use GenieMat® FASHM in high-moisture applications for bonding GenieMat® RST to various sub-floors and for bonding finish floors to GenieMat® RST or GenieMat® FF. Coverage per two gallon pail will vary depending on application.

ESTIMATING

The square footage coverage per pail will vary depending on where and how it is applied. The estimates below are considered minimums for the recommended trowel size.

INSTALLATION

When using grouted or fully adhered finish floor materials, the GenieMat® RST must be fully adhered to the substrate using either the GenieMat® FAS-2 or GenieMat® FAS-HM. The trowel size and notch will vary depending on application. Here are some general installation tips when using flooring adhesives:

  1. Carefully lay the material into the wet adhesive. Do not let the material fall because this will trap air beneath the material.
  2. Spread the adhesive. At seam area, spread the adhesive at 90 degrees to seam to prevent excessive adhesive oozing up to the surface of the material.
  3. Never leave adhesive ridges or puddles as they may affect the above material.
  4. Use a 30 to 50 pound roller to roll over the floor within 45 minutes to ensure proper transfer of adhesive. Overlap each pass of the roller by 50% of the previous pass to ensure that the floor is properly rolled.
